2010 Heroes Nominations
Throughout the Stanislaus County Community, ordinary people perform extraordinary life saving acts every day. The American Red Cross Stanislaus County Chapter needs your help to identify our local heroes. During the spring of 2010, the Stanislaus Chapter will recognize some of these heroes for their selflessness and courage.

CRITERIA FOR NOMINATION
1. The nominee must live or work in Stanislaus County. (*Hero of the Year must live in Stanislaus County)
2. The incident must have occurred within the last 2 years, not necessarily within Stanislaus County.
3. The nominee must have intervened in a life-threatening situation and/or shown extraordinary sacrifice or compassion.
4. The nominee cannot have caused or contributed to the incident itself.

AWARD CATEGORIES
Law Enforcement
An act of heroism by an individual trained to respond as part of his or her professional employment. Examples include police, highway patrol, sheriff, juvenile or justice department, parole, park rangers, etc.
Professional Rescue
An act of heroism by an individual trained to respond as part of his or her professional employment. Examples include 911 dispatch, search and rescue, ambulance, fire, lifeguards, etc.
Medical
An act of heroism by an individual trained to respond as part of his or her professional employment. Examples include physicians, nurses and other employees in medical settings.
Military
An act of heroism by a member of the armed services, reserves, National Guard, etc.
Workplace
An act of heroism by an individual in the workplace environment.
Animal
An act of heroism by animals or individuals on behalf of animal welfare.
Education
An act of heroism by an individual in an educational environment. Examples include individuals associated with private and public schools, continuing education, community colleges and institutions of advanced learning, etc.
Spirit of the Red Cross
Acts of heroism that exemplify the mission of the American Red Cross.
Good Samaritan - Adult
A person who has shown an act of heroism in some unusual way or in a time of crisis, or who has shown sacrificial and extraordinary commitment to the ongoing serious needs and challenges in Stanislaus County. Nominee must have been between the ages of 22-55 at time of incident.
Good Samaritan - Senior
Same as above (see Adult) Nominee must have been over the age of 55 at time of incident.
Good Samaritan - Youth
Same as above (see Adult) Nominee must have been under the age of 22 at time of incident.
Stanislaus County Hero of the Year
A individual living in Stanislaus County who’s actions demonstrate a passionate and dedicated commitment to saving lives and/or promoting the health and well being of others.
